Digital Literature

Prittania Shaw

Technology is constantly changing how we read and produced literature. before there was printing or internet use people used to tell stories orally. With the invention of tablets, computers and smart phones it changes the way how people read and produce literature. For instance, there is a whole new language that was created when texting on the phone or even speaking. Before I came to this county I didn’t have a cellphone now that I do I had to learn the Language of texting such as LOL. There are still many slang languages that I have no idea what it means. Another, thing that technology changes is the way how we do research, people no longer has to go to the library to find books on the topic they need to research instead, they can search what they are looking for through the internet. Also, classrooms are getting rid of Chalkboards and paper now we have smart boards in most of the classrooms. Teachers prefer students to submit homework assignments online.

Technology change how we think about what counts, as literature is that it changes the language for instance, when I had written about LOL.

Three twitter stories I find compelling are:

1) Trump Wants Health Care Bill Passed Next Week

2)Trump has already missed his own deadline for a report on Russian hacking and cyber security

3)Trump tax plan to rely on future US growth to fund cuts: officials #InternationalBusiness

I find these stories to be interesting because Trump seem to always be in the media. I find him to be a compelling and interesting character. I also keep up to date about him because I want to see him fail. I feel that he is the worst President in the history. I never tried to produce anything similar especially on twitter because twitter is hard to use it is not user friendly.

  1. Prittania,
Oh Wow! Your statement about wanting Trump to fail is understandable. However, do you think if Trump fails, then it not only reflects badly on him but us on as a whole. Your statement is not quite accurate about him being the worst President in History he just passed his first 100 days in this position. Lets gave it time and then we can properly access this situation. I remember many of us feeling the same way about Ex-President George W. Bush at that time. I am not a Trumpster but we must utilize the same judgment for all.

  2. Hi Prittania,
isn’t it weird that there arent chalk boards in class rooms anymore?! Growing up we always used chalk boards and now when I walk into a classroom I see students writing and erasing with a smart markers and smart erasers. I guess it’s good because it make things less messy lol

  3. I’d be curious to hear what you made of the Twitter fiction assigned for this week in terms of how/whether it counts as literature…
